Overview

“ Have you heard about that noisy signboard-headed fellow? He's supposedly a security personnel from NSR... I have my doubts about him. Why does he just go around wrecking things, causing property damage, endangering lives all under the guise of security? Instead of making the city safer, he's making it more hazardous! “

Appearance

Doritos embodies a menacing atmosphere symbolizing prohibition and warning. Its most distinctive features include a triangular signboard-like structure floating where its head should be, and skin resembling the snack with the same name.

He wears a tie and a red suit jacket with a design inspired by the keep out label. The tie is skewed to one side, and the suit jacket is unbuttoned, revealing the t-shirt underneath, which has sharp and straight 'KEEP OUT' lettering pattern engraved on it. He wears white gloves that do not cover his wrists, and his slightly exposed skin shows a yellowish complexion with small, dark spots scattered across. He wears tidy black dress shoes.

He boasts a tall stature, standing around 6.85 feet, making him quite sizable.

The overall design concept revolves around the theme of keep out. This is further emphasized throughout the narrative, as BBJ appears moments before intruding into the artist's performance, disrupting their riot as a security guard. The underlying motif within him exudes a subtle sense of symbolic dread.

Personality

Doritos is an extremely difficult and rough individual to deal with. To put it bluntly, he can be quite foul-mouthed and easily enraged. He suffers from anger management issues and struggles with reasoning. Naturally unruly, he is very inept at speaking politely and is quick to hurl insults with even the slightest provocation.

He speaks in an informal manner, and although he manages to use honorifics with his superiors, he remains rude.

He has a habit of mixing in transportation terms while speaking.

His dangerous and explosive attitude knows no bounds. He routinely defies employers or superiors without concern for consequences.

However, his loyalty to NSR and his passion for his work seem genuine. Despite his defeat by Bunk Bed Junction, he quickly recovers and demonstrates remarkable persistence by persistently disrupting intrusions before they can approach the next artist.

According to the lore revealed in the later episodes, it's said that even before joining the NSR security team, he volunteered to protect people. Despite lacking in manners and knowledge and struggling to control impulses like anger or excitement, he seems inherently just.

Bunk Bed Junction

“ Listen up, if you lot hadn't attempted to cut in the first place, we wouldn't even need to fiiiiiiiight. ”

―Doritos, to Bunk Bed Junction

To Doritos, BBJ was a target that had to be stopped at all costs, and the fact that they ultimately couldn't stop them felt humiliating, so even after everything was said and done, he harbors ill feelings towards them. If they were to meet by chance, there's a 99% chance of an argument breaking out. Well... truth be told, it's not just an argument; he might resort to physical violence.

NEON J

*bonk!* Damn it, I said I'll handle it myself. Lay off, chief. ⋯Wait, No, STOoooo*CRRRUNCH*P! *cough*….

―1:1 meeting with the head of security

They have a close yet extremely toxic superior-subordinate relationship. In short, it's a mutually violent relationship. Doritos, unable to control his anger, often defies Neon J, who manages Doritos as if dealing with a worthless soldier.

When Doritos first met him, he initially spoke rudely and informally, but after receiving a stern lesson, he learned to use honorifics….

Strategy Info

*Does not appear before the DJSub battle.

“ Doritos is very strong, but his ability to think... is severely lacking. So rather than confronting him directly, it's better to lure him into danger on his own. “

Phase 1

He chases you within the city district where you are currently located.

If Doritos, who relentlessly pursues you, gets within a certain distance, he swings a steel pipe, and it's very difficult to dodge.

The strategy is to lure him into swinging his steel pipe at the power supply devices within the city.

If you win, he will be incapacitated, and there won't be a next phase, allowing BBJ to proceed directly to the artist's approach level. However, upon reaching the next area, you will encounter Doritos repeatedly. Each time you encounter him, he becomes increasingly damaged due to injuries, and his movement speed is faster than when you first encountered him.

Story

Past

According to the backstory, he's an orphan who never received proper education and has dealt with a lot of lowlifes.

He suffers from innate anger management issues, and back then, it was actually seen as his charm. When a friend from the same orphanage was being bullied by a much larger adult, Doritos fearlessly rushed in to rescue his friend.

He continues to pursue his desire to protect what he loves with his own strength even as an adult, and currently, it seems he dedicates himself to NSR as a security guard due to his love for Vinyl City's musical atmosphere.

Due to a serious head injury, he asked a friendly mechanic to modify his head. Only his old acquaintances know what his head looked like before the modification. There's a playful rumor that it might have resembled a Doritos snack, but he doesn't particularly deny it.

After that, he sustained another injury and hastily entrusted the repairs to a new mechanic, but due to the mechanic's mistake, his voice ended up permanently damaged.

After the audition

Doritos, like NSR, was completely unaware of what BBJ was planning after their elimination from the audition. Therefore, until DJ Sub faced off against BBJ, Doritos also couldn't assess the situation. By the way, he was having a 1:1 meeting with Neon J in her office at the time.

Vs. Bunk Bed Junction

Later on, he received news of BBJ's riot and attempted to stop them from intruding into Sayu's performance.

However, he becomes incapacitated due to their strategy, leading to the end of the battle immediately.

Afterwards, he reappears in the next artist's zone and continues to confront BBJ.

Trivia

•Although his signboard head is actually modified, he doesn't refer to himself as a cyborg.

•His head may just look like a metal plate, but it's actually Organic Light-Emitting Diode-based, allowing the signboard's image to change depending on his mood.

•Due to a mistake made by a mechanic while inspecting his signboard, resulting in permanent damage to his voice, he dislikes anyone touching his head, regardless of who they are.

•His voice is clear and expressive, yet simultaneously unpleasant and grating due to the dreadful noise lurking beneath the clarity.

•His damaged voice seemed musical to some people, leading to the formation of a genre within Vinyl City dedicated to him, called Jam Break.

•He has never engaged in 'Artist' activities. What people heard was just him making noisy sounds as he moved around as a security guard... it just got treated as music. He himself finds his damaged voice extremely unpleasant, so he dislikes being treated as music.

However, given Vinyl City's nature where music always permeates, his eerie noise lurking beneath may sometimes be heard as pleasant beats, mixed under the echoing music.

•His skin has a texture remarkably similar to that of actual Doritos snacks, with a sensation akin to being long past their expiration date yet retaining a salty taste.

He's actually terrified of his superior, Neon J.

Doritos' reckless and impulsive behavior stems from his inability to control anger and impulses due to a mental illness, not because he's fearless.

He boasts being the strongest in the world in terms of sheer physical strength, but lacks intellect and finesse. Anyone with combat training would have no trouble overpowering Doritos.

As a security guard, Doritos has a commendable track record, but he has also received numerous warnings, mainly for excessive use of force.
